Our Story

The installation of approximately 30,000 acres of solar panels within a ten-mile radius has notably impacted our local environment and lifestyles. In response, we are committed to collaborating creatively to enhance the vitality  of our neighborhood and make it a more desirable place to live.

Recognizing the importance of community support, solar companies provide funding to areas affected by industrial solar projects. To facilitate these contributions, AC/DC has established itself as a 501(c)(3) organization, encouraging donations that benefit our community.

We actively engage with an Advisory Committee made up of local residents to identify improvement projects aimed at enhancing livability. We welcome all community members to reach out and share their ideas for positive change.  Contact us at activecommunitiesdesertcenter@gmail.com

January 18 Free Entire-Community Celebration Dinner

    Funded

Thanks to IPX Power, a free dinner was served to 182 Community Members announcing achievement of our 1 Mile Buffer Zone and AC/DC's new focus on cooperation and coordination with Solar Companies who will help us improve Lake Tamarisk's livability and desirability.

Lake Tamarisk Annual Women's Golf Invitational

    Funded

A budget for gifts, prizes and food was provided by IPX Power to make this local event a huge success.  Our Annual Women's Golf Invitational is an excellent way to bring Golfers from other clubs and introduce them to the Lake Tamarisk Golf Course.

    Annual Community Cleanup

    Funded

Locals have historically held an "Annual Cleanup Day" each February at Lake Tamarisk and the surrounding area.  This year four IPX Power Employees, Micah, Bridget, Logan & Aaron attended and participated in the cleanup, and they weren't afraid to get their hands dirty!  Generous funding was also provided by IPX Power to feed all participants lunch after the work was done. The workers enjoyed a nice variety of foods and the LTDR Hospitality Team served it to them.

    Toro Reelmaster 550D Fairway Mower

    Funded

Members of the Lake Tamarisk Desert Resort participate with the County of Riverside in maintaining the Public Golf Course.  The volunteers requested a new mower, but it was not in the County  budget.  IPX Power purchased an excellent Toro Reelmaster 550D Fairway Mower for their use, so now the volunteer work continues.

3yr Supply of Custom Design Golf Score Cards

    Funded

A three year supply of Lake Tamarisk Golf Course Custom Logo Golf Score Cards was provided by IPX Power for the use of golfers who visit the Lake Tamarisk Golf Course.

Supplies to Repair Lake Tamarisk Dock

    Funded

The floating dock on Lake Tamarisk had become unsafe after many years of use.  Funding was provided by IPX Power to repair the Lake Tamarisk Public Dock and a local Community Member completed the work.  It is now safely repaired and available for use.

    EDF Power Solutions

Solar Projects: Sapphire, Maverick, Desert Harvest

Community Kitchen Improvement Project (Phased Donations Over 3 Yrs)

    Funded

EDF Power Solutions has committed to a generous 3 year project to upgrade our CSA Hall Kitchen.  This is a facility that is used for many important Community Events, and a place we often gather.  The kitchen is small and outdated.  In 2025 EDF Power Solutions provided funding for our community to install a new Commercial Freezer, a Griddle & Burners, plus Griddle Stand and several Carts.  Funding has been issued for the 2026 phase, so MORE much-needed equipment will be added this fall.

    Annual Community Halloween Celebration

    Pending

Funding is approved to support the 2026 Lake Tamarisk Annual Community Halloween Celebration.  We appreciate support from EDF Power Solutions in funding events that bring our families together.  In 2025 the Lake Tamarisk Community collaborated and pooled funds to create an amazing Fun House where local families could gather and celebrate Halloween.  It was a smashing success with about 150 people attending.  Now, with the help of EDF Power Solutions, they can plan this party as an annual event.

    NextEra Energy Resources

    Solar Projects: Desert Sunlight

Two Bicycle Racks With Standard and Desert Bicycle Capacity

    Funded

Many of our Community Members use bicycles, but to date we have not had a rack to secure them or hold them upright when we attend events at local buildings or when children play in the local Public Park.  NextEra Energy Resources sponsored the purchase of two Community-selected bicycle racks to be installed by local residents.  One will be placed near the playground next to the CSA Hall, the other near Kennedy Hall.  Now more cyclists can feel confident about attending events on bicycles.

    Clearway Energy

Solar Projects: Arica, Victory Pass, Redonda, Bajada, Savira

10" Telescope for Local Astronomy Club

    Funded

Clearway Energy provided an awesome telescope that is kept in the Lake Tamarisk library and shared for Community education & viewing during special celestial events. Local volunteers from our Astronomy Club manage setup and care of this asset.  We appreciate Clearway Energy's support for Lake Tamarisk as a recognized "Dark Sky" area. That status is a valuable asset which our Locals treasure.  Telescope viewing events are advertised at the library, on FaceBook & NextDoor a few days in advance.

    Musical Instrument Lending Library

    Funded

Lake Tamarisk is somewhat isolated,.  Music lessons are not available for our children as a regular educational enrichment.  Community Members presented the concept of a Musical Instrument Lending Library.  Clearway Energy agreed to fund a nice variety of Musical Instruments to launch it. Instruments will be stored and loaned out by the Lake Tamarisk Public Library.  A local musician has agreed to mentor those who are interested in learning to play.  Perhaps we'll develop a Lake Tamarisk Band!

    SB Energy

    Solar Projects: Athos

Church Playground and Shade Gazebo Kits for Set Free Church

    Funded

SB Energy is providing DIY Kits for a Children's Playground and an Outdoor Shaded Seating Area. Members of the church will assemble & install the kits. The Lake Tamarisk Set Free Church provides housing and supports families in need. In addition, they manage a local Food Bank and offer handyman services to local families in exchange for donations. Resident children do not have play equipment or shaded area for outdoor play & seating. This will be a nice improvement for Set Free Church Members.

Resurfacing and Repainting Basketball Court to Add Pickball and Volleyball

    Pending

SB Energy has offered to support a project students & active adults from Lake Tamarisk requested.  The Lake Tamarisk Public Park has a Basketball Court that is old and in need of resurfacing & repainting.  It's an often-used play area for children and adults alike.  Locals have suggested resurfacing & painting that allows play for Volleyball, Pickle Ball & Basketball options.  We're thankful SB Energy supports projects that bring our greater community together for play and social interaction.

Community WISH LIST - Not Yet Funded

Waiting for Sup port From Local Solar Projects

    Skate Park

When local students were asked what improvements they would like to see, the first response was a Skate Park.  We realize this is no small project, but it would provide an outlet for physical activity and training skills for our kids, and we'd love to have a company offer to support it. or join with a partner to make it happen.

    Splashpad

A Splashpad play area would be a wonderful improvement that would support positive family fun, and it is perfectly suited to our local climate.  Many adults have made this request, saying it provides safe water-based activity for the smaller kids.  Please reach out if your company would like to help us with this.

    Bus Shelter

Students in Lake Tamarisk currently do not have a Bus Shelter.  They wait standing in the sun, even in the hottest of days.  A Shelter that seats 6-8 people and provides shade for the children would be greatly appreciated.

    Community Playground Refurbishment

First Solar Desert Sunlight donated a wonderful playground to CSA51 in 2013.  After years of continuous use, the picnic tables, benches, and playground surfacing have reached the end of their useful life.  Replacing the seating, refreshing the playground safety surfacing, and improving the amenities will restore the area as a safe, welcoming, place for families.

    Residents - Add Your Wish

Lake Tamarisk Residents, please reach out to AC/DC if you would like your idea added to the list of projects that Solar Companies can offer to make Lake Tamarisk more livable and desirable.
